Bloxels was the second abstract puzzle game that I created, except this one was made in 4 weeks. The design of the game went through heavy iterations and several failed models before arriving at the simplistic match-3 formula that it is today.
I learned several important factors through this project:
- Simple mechanics can provide complex gameplay
- Spatial puzzle design is more difficult than it appears
- Visual and aural feedback can make or break a game
