Bloxels is a fast-paced “match-3” puzzle game.

Bloxels was the second abstract puzzle game that I created, except this one was made in 4 weeks. The design of the game went through heavy iterations and several failed models before arriving at the simplistic match-3 formula that it is today.

I learned several important factors through this project:

  • Simple mechanics can provide complex gameplay
  • Spatial puzzle design is more difficult than it appears
  • Visual and aural feedback can make or break a game
